

Claudette accepted Jesus as her savior at an early age, and was baptized at Pleasant Run Baptist Church in Campbellsville, KY. The family later moved to Campbellsville, where Claudette obtained her elementary and high school education. She attended Kentucky State College (as it was called at that time) in Frankfort, KY.
After completing her education, Claudette moved to Indianapolis, IN where she met and united in holy matrimony with James Wardell Hopkins, Jr. To this union were born three children: Pamela Zoe (Hopkins) Williams, Deborah Kay (Hopkins) Badger, and James Wardell Hopkins III. The Hopkins family became members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church under Rev. R.T. Andrews, where she maintained her affiliation until her death.
Claudette became active in Mt. Zion as Secretary for the Bible Searchers Class, Levites Club calling committee person, Crisis Ministry cheer person, and member of the Ladies Chorus. After dissolution of the Ladies Chrous, Claudette joined the mass choir later names the Voices of Mt. Zion where she was asked to be the Cheer Person. As Cheer Person, Claudette loved to send cards and faithfully sent cheer, sympathy, and holiday cards to many family and friends alike.
Claudette was preceded in death by her father and mother, and 15 brothers and sisters: Clarence Vaughn, Gladys (Vaughn) Williams, Oscar Vaughn, Josie (Vaughn) Carter, Elizabeth (Vaughn) Cowherd, John W. Vaughn, Bertha (Vaughn) Cooper, Minnie (Vaughn) Maddox, Roxey S. (Vaughn) Taylor, Early C. Vaughn, and William Lee Vaughn, her loving husband, James Wardell Hopkins, Jr., and daughter, Pamela Zoe (Hopkins) Williams.
Claudette leaves to cherish her memory her children, Deborah Kay (Hopkins) Badger and James W. Hopkins III; four grandchildren: Devon Elain (Blunt) Wilson, Paige A. Hopkins, Tyler James Hopkins, and Drew Wesley Hopkins, one great-grandchildren: Ryann Kendall McMillan, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
