Coattean "Tina" Barnett

Tina was born to a large family of ten siblings. William Earl, Frank C., John Paul, Darnell, and Estelle preceded her in death.

Tina was a c/o 1974 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis, IN. She was employed at the Marion County Treasurer’s Office as a Customer Service/Property Tax Clerk/Supervisor for 30 years and employed at BMG Music Group for 6 years as a Transaction Processor.

She professed a hope in Christ, was baptized, and was a former member of Twenty-Fifth Street Baptist Church, Indianapolis, IN.

Tina was united in holy matrimony to Carl H. Barnett in 1973 and to this union their daughter, Catrina Barnett was born.

Tina was a woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life: bowling, gardening, walking, dancing, and playing solitaire. She was a devoted fan of the Indiana Fever, Pacers, and Colts, often predicting the outcomes of plays before the referee made the calls. Tina cherished family gatherings, especially on Thanksgiving and Christmas, where her warm smile and gentle spirit filled the room. While she could be strict in her own way, but she was also loving and caring. She was eager to give and always ready to lend a hand to her community.

Tina was often seen cleaning up her neighborhood. She enjoyed taking walks around Washington and Douglas parks collecting golf balls. She welcomed everyone into her home without judgement but never hesitated to speak her mind.

Tina entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the age of sixty-nine years old.

Tina leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Catrina Barnett; granddaughters, Aaliyah D. Barnett and Azaria D. Barnett; her mother, Luerine (Jones) Beard; her father, William Beard; sister, Connie Beard; brothers: Freddie L. Beard, Lenell Beard and Randy Beard. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
