

Cynthia Leigh Andry, 70, of Indianapolis, passed away on October 24, 2025, at 7:46 a.m., surrounded by her family, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on October 8, 1955, in Beech Grove, to Craig and Mary Ruth (Dixon) Rider. She married John D. Andry on August 13, 1977, at Englewood Christian Church in Indianapolis.
Cindy was a 1973 graduate of Warren Central High School and a 1978 graduate of the University of Indianapolis, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She went on to earn a Master’s degree in Education from Indiana University in 1983, a certification in Gifted and Talented Education in 1985, and her Administrator’s Licensure in 2003.
She had lived in Franklin Township since 1980, where she poured her heart into the local schools and into raising her family. Cindy was instrumental in starting the Gifted and Talented program for Franklin Township Schools and took great pride in serving as a teachers’ union negotiator. She was deeply passionate about mentoring new educators and advocating for teachers and students alike throughout the community.
Cindy and her husband, John, were longtime members of Indian Creek Christian Church. She lived out her faith through acts of service and compassion, especially within her school community.
She is survived by her loving husband, John D. Andry of Indianapolis; daughters Heather (Nate) Warfield of New Palestine and Lindsey (John) Cunningham of Whitestown; sister Judith (Jeff) Baer of Stockton, Illinois; sisters-in-law Carol Rider of Greenwood, Janet (Bob) Johnson of Indianapolis, Barb Andry of Indianapolis, and brother-in-law Bill (Sandy) Andry of Sugar Grove, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Craig and Mary Ruth Rider; her brother, Mike Rider; her parents-in-law, Ruth and Ray Andry; and her brother-in-law, Don Andry, with whom she is now joyfully reunited in Heaven.
She was the proud Nana of Brenton Smith, Addi Smith, Rylan Warfield, Brynnlee Warfield, Johnny Cunningham, Carter Cunningham, and Kennedy Cunningham.
Cindy is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and their families: Vernon (Lisa) Baer and children, Mary (Richard) Baldino and children, Betsy (Shane) Gerber and children, Brad Rider and children, Scott (Taffie) Rider and child, Brook Johnson and children, Shawn Johnson and children, Brandon Johnson, Suzanne Johnson and children, Jeff Andry and child, Jon (Elaine) Andry and children, Sarah (Joe) Rice and children, Travis (Laura) Andry and children, and Wendy (Shawn) Hagie and children.
Visitation will be held, Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Little & Son’s Funeral Home at 4901 East Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, IN 46237 from 11-2pm with service to follow at 2pm.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Franklin Township Education Foundation for Cindy Andry memorial for a grant for new teachers established in Cindy Andry’s name, honoring her lifelong dedication to education and service.
