Dannie Reid

In February of 1973, Dannie joined the United States Air Force where he served with honor and reached the rank of Sergeant. He received an Honorable Discharge in September 1980.

On June 29, 1991, Dannie married Janet Denise Fisher Denny and began a 31-year love ordained by God. Their blended family blessed him with three beautiful daughters: Quiana, Jakia, and Kymberli. Later in years God added to the family his son-in-love Eric Locke and seven amazing grandchildren whom he cherished.

Dannie accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He joined Eastern Star Church in Indianapolis, IN 1992, under the guardianship of Pastor Jeffrey A. Johnson, Sr. In March of 2008 he made a career move to Honolulu, Hawaii, where he and Janet spent 2 amazing years. In Hawaii he served at Word of Life Hawaii Church, under the pastoral care of Pastor Art Sepulveda. In 2015 he and Janet joined Greater Works Church, Pastor Thomas Johnson and in 2017, their membership transferred to Westside Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN, under the guidance of Pastor Michael O. Bryant. Dannie served as a faithful member in the Music Ministry as Sound Technician at each church. Dannie enjoyed listening to jazz and watching sports, he was also known as the "Grill Master" to his family and friends.

Dannie possessed a strong work ethic and was employed as an independent contractor in the Information Technology field for over 25 years. He was most recently employed at Research Management Consultants., Inc, of Oak Hill, VA.

Dannie deeply loved and cherished his family. The bond he shared with his wife Janet and their 3 daughters grew stronger with each day. Dannie beamed with joy as each of his grandchildren came into this world. He spent countless hours supporting, teaching, and guiding his grandchildren who he absolutely adored. He was determined to be a principal part in building the foundation for their success and happiness.

Dannie departed this earthly life on Monday, October 10, 2022, to be with his Heavenly Father. He is preceded in death by his loving mother and father: Marjorie (Dupree) Reid and Willie Reid; and his sisters: Barbara Reid and Judy Reid.

Dannie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Janet Reid; his daughters: Quiana Locke (Eric) of Indianapolis, IN, Jakia Denny of Flowery Branch, GA, and Kymberli Denny of McCordsville, IN; his precious grandchildren: Ayriana, Noriae, Keira, Aumir, Milan, King and Nasir; his brothers: Edward “Ed Man” Reid of Pennsylvania, Jeffrey Reid (Tracy) of Pennsylvania, Leon Reid of Alabama; his sisters: Sharon Reid of New York, Gloria Reid of Georgia, and Brenda Darlington of Pennsylvania; In-laws Evie Reid & Billy Taylor; and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
