David Allen Todd, age 87, of Fishers, Indiana peacefully passed away in his home on Thursday, April 25, 2024. David was born September 16, 1936 in Hornell, New York to the late Carl and Helen (Goodwin) Todd. David graduated from Avoca (NY) Central School in 1954. He subsequently completed his Associates degree in Applied Science from State University of New York Agricultural and Technical Institute. Following college, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving from 1956 to 1960 in several U.S. posts. In 1963, he began work at National Cash Register (NCR) in Rochester, NY as a Service Technician. He transferred to Indianapolis, IN in 1980 to become a Zone Manager before retiring after 31 years in 1994 from NCR. David met the love of his life, Beverly Lane, in the Fall of 1962. They were married at the Centenary Methodist Church of Bath, NY in August 1964. David was incredibly handy and built their first family home in Lima, NY in 1968. Their home welcomed their two children, Eric (1969) and Cheryl (1971). David handiness and hard work led him to buying and restoring a home and apartment units in the Honeoye Falls area. From Lima, they moved to East Bloomfield to accommodate Beverly’s mother living with them until her passing. With the NCR transfer the family moved to Carmel, Indiana where they resided until David’s retirement. After retiring, David and Beverly moved to an adult retirement community in Summerfield, FL. They loved life in Florida and were always active, from playing cards to shuffleboard and neighborhood block parties. David was an active member of the Spruce Creek South Veteran’s Club and was selected as Veteran of the Year in 2012. In 2014, David and Beverly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and relocated back to Indiana to be closer to their children and grandchildren. David was a loving devoted selfless care giver to his wife who suffered from Alzheimer’s. He was heartbroken with her passing in the February 2019. David had a witty, charming personality. He was kind and gentle, and a true gentleman who lived by the motto “life is good”. He loved his family and friends fiercely. He was a protector. He took care of his friends and family to ensure their safety, well-being and happiness. David took on hardships with perseverance, strength, and a positive attitude. He was a rare combination of someone who had a love of life and a firm understanding of what was important – the simplicity of living a life with those you love. He believed in living and loving fully. He was always up for a new adventure, loved camping and traveling. He modeled being quick to show appreciation and always tried to understand how others were feeling. He looked for the best in others and gave the best he had every day. David was always quietly in service for others. He was not one that looked for praise, never was one to boast. David’s greatest titles in life were “Dad” and “Grandpa”. He loved attending their life moments, their sporting events and activities, gathering for a family meal, and playing cards He loved seeing his family happy and living life fully. David is survived by his children, Eric (Talicia) Todd and Cheryl (Adam) Fairfield; grandchildren: Caroline Todd, Cameron Todd, Brock Hatfield, Chase Hatfield and Taylor Hatfield; step grandchildren, Cole Fairfield, Claire (Vincent) Alerding and Ethan Fairfield; siblings, Carla Alsheimer, Brad (Mary) Todd and Sylvia Simone; and grandpets, Roxy, Finn and Cabi. David was preceded in death by his loving wife, Beverly Todd; parents, Carl and Helen Todd; and siblings, Barbara Senger and Pamela Stewart. David will have two Celebrations of Life. In Indiana, his Celebration of Life will be at his home on May 28, 2024 from 6:30-8:00 pm (Independence Village East, 12950 Tablick St, Fishers, IN 46037) where he developed a second family after losing his wife. David will be buried next to his beloved wife at Bath National Cemetery in Bath, NY. His burial ceremony with military honors will be on August 2, 2024 at 3pm. His NY Celebration of Life will be on August 3, 2024 at Canandaigua Lake.
