Deborah “Debbie” Wilson (maiden name Wallace), age 72, passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, devotion, and family-centered joy. Her life was lived with an immense amount of love, peace, faith, comfort, and a warm happiness that settles in your heart.
Born and raised in Park Forest, Illinois, Debbie created a life around deep relationships, compassion for others, and a quiet but steady path of faith that helped guide the way she loved and served. She married the love of her life, Jeff Wilson. They shared 51 wonderful years of marriage together. Their love was evident to all who knew them and served as a beautiful example of a strong foundation and God-centered partnership for their children and families.
Debbie and Jeff spent 33 years in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where they raised their family, worshiped alongside their church community, and built lifelong friendships before moving to Avon, Indiana earlier this year. Debbie dedicated 30 years of her career to Vera Bradley Designs, where her warmth, reliability, and generous spirit were deeply appreciated.
Debbie was compassionate, sympathetic, devoted, and resilient, while her faith and the love of God shined through her everyday. She expressed and received the most happiness when she was with her family– particularly her beloved grandchildren. She always found immense amounts of joy and love traveling with Jeff, and creating meaningful and everlasting memories. She always adjusted her life for others, placing people and relationships at the center of her life.
Debbie is survived by her devoted husband, Jeff Wilson; her son Rich Wilson and his wife Tracy, and their children Ashton, Corbin, and Mira; and her daughter Amanda Moore and her husband Derek, and their children Ian, Tessa, and Nia. While her absence is deeply felt, her family finds comfort in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.
Burial services will be held on Saturday, December 20, at 2:00 PM at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, with a viewing from 12:00–1:30 PM at Family Funeral Care in Indianapolis.
A memorial service celebrating Debbie’s life and faith will take place in Fort Wayne at Sonrise Church on January 3 at 1:00 PM, with guests received beginning at 12:00 PM.
Debbie’s life was a testament to love, faith, and service. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through her family, her example, and the countless lives she touched with grace and compassion.
