Denise Wofford

Father: the late Joseph C. “Duke” Barnery, Sr., and Mothers; Lillie Sowell and the late Nancie E. Barney. She was a graduate of Washington High School (Indianapolis). She attended Indiana University and received her Associate Degree from IUPUI.

She was an active member of the Capital City Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she served in various roles. She was a member of the Echoes of Faith Choir, served as Head Usher, and led out with the youth ushers. Later, she oversaw the nursery, which was the position she enjoyed the most.

With her take charge attitude, she would make sure to get things done. She had a smile that would light up a room, could make friends with just about anyone. She would give the shirt off her back to help you if she could. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her mother: Lillie Sowell, her husband: Carl M. Wofford, sons: Kevin M. Wofford and Kyle M. Wofford, grandson: Obsidian Kai Wofford, brother: Sylvester Phillips, Joseph C. (Renee) Barney, Jr., David (LaTausha) Phillips, Christopher L. Barney, Michael Barney, Derrick Barney, and Christopher S. (Rochelle) Barney, sisters: Sylvia Phillips and Sherry Barney, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
