

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Donald Dante Smith died on Thursday, March 24, 2011. A proud child of the South, Don was born in Brewton, Alabama, on August 10, 1947. He was the youngest son of Alice & Floyd Smith. Donald Smith earned a B.S. degree in Health & Physician Education from Tennessee State University. He acquired an M.S. degree in School Administration from Butler University. For forty years, Don worked as a teacher & a coach for the Indianapolis Public Schools. He was a valued member of the Kappa Alpha PSI Faternity. He was a member of the Prince Hall Masonic Lodge. Don was preceded in death by his parents Alice & Floyd Smith and his brother Weldon. Donald leaves to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life his wife, Phebe; his daughter, Ithream, her son, Elon (Donna), the first grandchild, Lauren;, his brothers; Bernard and Frankie, his nieces, nephews, cousins, his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, his Kappa Sands and a host of friends and colleagues. Services will be held on Thursday, March 31st, 2011, 11 A.M. at The Church of the Living God, 7206 East 38th Street. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9 A.M.
