He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Ann; three nephews: Glenn (Patty), Paul (Dawn), and David (Laura) Simonek; two nieces: Elizabeth Simonek and Leah Simonek (Julio) Lewis. He was preceded in death by his two brothers Thomas A. (Elayne) Simonek and Robert J. (Joyce) Simonek. Ed graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1954 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and spent a lifetime working in graphic art design, photography and video production. His cheerful impressionist paintings are full of color and imagination. He was a 20 year member of the Chicago Figure Skating Club where he was an accomplished ice dancer, and his love of swimming and tennis began in Chicago and were lifelong interests. He served two years in the Army at Fort Bliss in El Paso. We are forever grateful to Jura, Chris and Heidi from Tendercare who helped Ed stay as strong as possible during his last years and to hospice nurses Melissa and Tammy who helped him through his last two nights. A memorial celebration is planned for a later date. Private burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Services entrusted to Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary.
