

Edward Michael York Edward Michael York of Noblesville, Indiana passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 with his family by his side. Edward was born June 29, 1923 in West Hoboken, New Jersey to James A. York and Anna McCarthy. Following graduation from Emerson High School he was inducted into the U. S. Army and served with distinction in World War Two. He served as a Sergeant in the 29th Division. He saw action in Cassino, Normandy, Saint Louis, Vierre, Ardennes, and Aachen. His Unit was highly decorated, sustained many casualties, and was awarded the Army Presidential Unit Citation. He was awarded the bronze star for bravery and was honorably discharged in February, 1946. On May 8, 1954, he married Rosemary Falco of Brooklyn, NY. Thereafter, they moved to Long Island, NY where they lived for over 40 years raising two children, Kevin and Carolyn. After his discharge from the Army, he worked for Texaco Oil Company for 20 years. Following Texaco, he joined the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and retired in 1987. In 1998 Edward and Rosemary moved to Noblesville, IN in order to be closer to his family. Edward loved his country, his family, and the New York Yankees. He became a lifelong Yankees fan when Babe Ruth hit a home run that sailed over the stands where an eight year old Edward and his father were cheering on the team. Edward is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosemary, his son Kevin York, his daughter Carolyn O’Neil, and three grandchildren; Kristen York, Nicole York, and Joseph O’Neil. The children and grandchildren have fond memories of all the parks that “Poppy” took them to, and the time he spent playing with them outdoors and at parks.
