Eileen's Parent's names were Elmer Richard Hill and Edith Elvira Johnson.
Eileen was born 13 Feb 1932 in Duluth, Minnesota. She was the 3rd of 7 children at that time. Her father died in 1939 when she was just 7 years old. Her mother re-married in 1941 to Toivo Henrick Niskala. There were two more brothers Melvin and Norman Niskala from that marriage. Her mother passed away 16 Aug 1975.
Eileen graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1951. Eileen Marie Hill married Robert Marshall Hooten 08 Aug 1952 at Central Baptist Church in Duluth, Minnesota. They met while he was stationed with the Air Force, 3 months later they were married. He always said he was sent there to rescue her from the cold. They moved to Indianapolis, where Bob was from, after Bob was discharged so he could go back to work for the Railroad.
They moved out to Avon in 1962 so Bob could be closer to the Big 4 Railroad Yards. They lived in a big old farm house that was the perfect place to raise 6 children. They became actively involved at Faith Baptist Church where both Eileen and Bob felt the call to work with the deaf and learned American Sign Language. This opened up the opportunity for Eileen to work at Central State Hospital for the head of the Deaf Unit. Eileen became a Certified Interpreter for the Deaf and was able to use this talent throughout their ministry to smaller churches. She was willing to serve with Bob wherever the Lord called them. She had a BIG heart and was willing to share and help anyone.
Eileen received an honorary Bachelors Degree of Christian Education from Freedom University and was previously named in Who's Who of American Women. Eileen worked professionally for the state of Indiana, in various departments, from 1975 until her retirement in 2002.
