Emagene Melvin Eicher Allen, age 94, Beech Grove, Indiana resident since 1963, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. She was born August 7, 1926 in Mitchell, Indiana to the late Pauline (Jean) Melvin and Otha Melvin. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, James Allen; daughter, Jamie Allen; brother, Donald Melvin; and son-in-law, Terry O'Brien. She was a long time member of the Irvington Seventh Day Adventist Church where she was involved in many activities, including choir and deaconess. Emagene's Bible was well worn. She enjoyed gardening and flowers as well. As an avid reader, she visited the Beech Grove Library often. Biographies and nonfiction were her preference. Her grandkids loved spending time with her. With her mother Pauline, Emagene drove all over Indiana, visiting family, taking trips, and driving her friends and relatives to shop, appointments, or out to eat. She loved her family and friends and they loved her.
She is survived by her children, Timothy Eicher (Kathy), Karen O'Brien, Janet Flegel, Patricia Pinkston (Mike), and James Allen (Dee); sister, Mary Pauline (Melvin) Lagle; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be Monday, October 19, 2020 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E Stop Eleven Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46237. Her Funeral Service will be Monday, October 19, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest Monday, October 19, 2020 at 2:30 PM at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
