

Emma accepted Christ as her savior at a very young age at the Free Run Baptist Church in Reynolds, Georgia. When Emma moved to Indianapolis she united with Mount Vernon Community Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Williams where she was a faithful member for more than 50 years. She served in the church for many years as an usher, and a choir member. She loved her church family and helped out with other committees when needed. Emma enjoyed listening to the choir sing and enjoyed hearing the Southern Hymns.
Emma was employed at Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis, where she worked in the Medical Center Unit until retirement in 1995.
Emma was a loving, caring mother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Her favorite pass time hobbies were going fishing, gardening and beating everyone in playing checkers. She loved her family and enjoyed attending family reunions and encouraging all family members to attend.
Emma departed this life on Friday, October 19, 2018 at the age of 86 to be with her heavenly
Father. She is preceded in death by her parents, 4 siblings, one son Nathaniel Mance, grand daughter Latasha Mance, bonus son-in-law Stacey L. Canady, several nephews and nieces.
Emma leaves to Cherish in her memory, two sons, Arthur J. Mance, Elder Jerry Mance (Lucy) one daughter Ruth Ward (a devoted son-in-law Roosevelt) she had 2 bonus children Walter George III (Tina) Patricia Canady. 11 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. Step children; Charles Mance, Isaiah Mance (Makia), Mattie Mance, and daughter in law Bernice Mance. A host of nephews and nieces and friends and church members.
