Ermal J Lowery

Ermal Jean Lowery was born on June 20, 1936, in Earlington, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Millard Jayco and Clara Dobbins. Clara went on to be married to George A. Vaughn where he raised Jean from the age of 2 as his own. Jean attended Rosenwald High School in Madisonville, Kentucky, where she was crowned Home Coming Queen, graduating with high honors.

Jean met Wardel Lowery while attending high school. After graduating from high school, they were united in Holy Matrimony in 1956. To their union, 5 children were born. Jean went on to work at RCA for ten years. Jean later went on to work at the United States Postal Service in downtown Indianapolis for 35 years.

Jean loved playing the piano and organ for her Church on Sunday's and she loved traveling. She loved watching TV and helping and seeing her family grow. She loved helping out with grandchildren when they were young and was known to them as "Mommie Jean." What she liked best was staying at home and relaxing.

Jean professed her love for Christ at an early age. She had visited different churches before finding her true home at Calvery Temple in the late 80's early 90's where she officially joined. She continued there until her health started to decline.

Jean leaves to cherish; One son, Anthony Lowery and four girls; daughters-Phyllis Lowery, Terri Lowery, Kathy Lowery (Mark), Anita Lowery Williams. 12 grandchildren; Angela Cole, Andrea Wharton, Clyde Wharton, Jr., Dewayne Jenkins, Jr., Dorian Wharton, Josa Williams, II, Alisha Williams, Asia Lowery, Arianne Woods, Ryan Mason, Brian Anthony and Ashley Anthony. 28 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation for Ermal Jean Lowery is scheduled for Thursday, October 27th from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. Funeral services will follow her visitation beginning at 12:00 PM.
