

Ernest Leroy Moye Sr., was born on July 17, 1945 to Alvira Burse Moye and William Moye Sr. in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the oldest of four siblings. He received his high school diploma from Crispus Attucks High School in 1963.
In 1965 he united in Holy Matrimony to Essie Mae Gray. God blessed them with 57 years in marriage and in this union, they had three daughters and one son. They later were blessed to add two sisters to the family.
Ernest worked many jobs before being employed by Chrysler Foundry where he retired in 1995.
Ernest Moye Sr., accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized early in his childhood. He was called to preach the gospel in the late 70’s and started pastoring in 1986. Rev. Moye pastored Brighter Life Missionary Baptist Church, Glory Missionary Baptist Church, and Western Star Missionary Baptist Church.
Rev. Moye was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He loved to sing, praise and worship the Lord, spend time with family and friends, roller skate, bowl, play family games, chess, and travel.
Rev. Moye departed this life on Monday, February 13, 2023. He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Essie Moye, a daughter, Ella Smith of Indianapolis, IN, a son, Ernest Moye Jr. of Indianapolis, IN, a daughter, Elonda Malone (Aaron) of Fort Wayne, IN, a daughter, Equoia Taylor (DuBois) of Pleasant Prairie, WI, a daughter, Angela Anderson (Arthur) of Indianap-olis, IN, and a daughter, Ebony Chisholm of Indianapolis, IN; three brothers, John Moye (Annie), Rev. William Moye Jr. (Ernestine), Richard Thompson, and one sister Alicia Johnson (Glenn), 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
