He was born on September 6, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Gerald and Lena (Sabo) Brandenburg. He was a proud graduate of the 1960 Class of Cathedral High School.
Upon graduation, he began a career with Eli Lilly and Company where he worked prior to being drafted to the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge in September 1965, he returned to his employment at Eli Lilly where he worked for 36 years retiring in 1999.
Frank’s most joyous moments were following his retirement when he was able to be Pa in all sense of the word. He relished in spending time with his children and grandchildren. As a man of faith throughout his life, he was a member of St. Jude Parish for 55 years.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife and dance partner of 54 years, Joyce (Wheatley) and his children Christine Kerl, Brett and Matthew Brandenburg, grandchildren Aaron, Logan, Ryan, Benjamin, Jackson, Austin and Lucy Brandenburg and Branden Kerl. Survivors include the cherished parents of his grandchildren, Susan and Kelly Brandenburg and Christopher Kerl. Including these loved family members, bonus sisters and brother, Penny (Richard) Moss, Melody Lopossa and Rob (Lori) Thompson along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Mark, parents Gerald and Lena Brandenburg and Stepmother Betty Brandenburg and in-laws, Clarence and Lucille Wheatley and sister in law Kathy Sauer.
Visitation will be held at Little and Sons Stop Eleven Chapel on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 4:00-8:00pm. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, March 4, 2022 at St. Jude Catholic Church (5353 McFarland Rd., Indianapolis, Indiana) at 10:00am with visitation one hour prior to the start of the service. Frank will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Indianapolis.
