

Frank was born on April 2nd, 1951, to Hugh and Eula Pearl Fleming in Christian County, Kentucky. He received Christ at an early age and was a member of New Asia Baptist Church (Herndon, Kentucky). During his senior year of school, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School.
While in Indianapolis, he joined Eastern Star Baptist Church and worked various jobs. Frank enjoyed visiting Chicago and decided to move there in the early 1970s.
One of his first jobs there was as a Messenger and he also worked at Montgomery Wards. He
enlisted in the United States Army and served three years as well as time in the Army Reserve, he received an Honorable Discharge.
After serving in the military, he was employed by the United States Postal Service. He began his career as a Letter Carrier in Harvey, Illinois, then he changed over to a Processing Clerk at the Fox Valley P&DC (Aurora, Illinois).
He received several awards, even one as “A Person to Know”. He commuted 58 miles one-way to work and would often drive the Carpool Shuttle. Frank retired after 30 years of service. While in Chicago, he joined the New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church. Frank sang in the Male Chorus and served as an
Usher until his work schedule would not permit him to continue.
Frank certainly LOVED Chicago and lived there for over 40 years. Frank decided after retiring he would move back to Indianapolis. He was someone who did not like just sitting around. He worked part-time at Lowe’s for 8 years and also at special events. Frank enjoyed the company of friends and family.
He liked music, whether at an outdoor concert or at the Church House. Frank loved the Lord and his church family; he made sure that he attended Pastor Thurston’s retirement service in March 2024.
Finally, Frank loved to eat, especially “Down Home” southern cooking. Frank was a resilient person who enjoyed life. He took everything in stride. Frank was dependable and would help you in any way he could. He had a warm smile and was just a very nice person. Frank will be truly missed.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Eula Pearl Fleming, and sister, Annie Mayfield. He is survived by brothers, James Wayne Fleming (Wilhelmenia) of Columbia, SC, Oliver Fleming of Indianapolis, IN and sister, Wanda King of Indianapolis, IN; special friends, Kevin Tucker of Indianapolis,
IN and Lawrence Moody of Chicago, IL; with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation for Frank will be held Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
