

George Harrison Brown was born on October 30, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Margaret (Grinter) and Clarence Brown. He was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. George was employed with the Indianapolis Kroger Co bakery plant where he retired after 40 years and was the first African American plant operations manager. George was joined in marriage to Ethel "Peggy" (Lowe) Brown and from this marriage was born two children Timothy W. Brown and Maria Richardson-Brown. He was a member Robinson community AME church and attended until his health declined. George was a member of Fidelity lodge #55 Free & Accepted Masons, P.H.A and the Improved Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Indiana state association, Ft. Harrison lodge #709 and was a Past Grand Exalted Ruler. George never met a stranger and loved socializing and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed watching The Price is Right, The People's Court, CNN, and the Colts and Pacers. George also loved to cook and listen to music.
George Harrison Brown departed this life on July 25th, 2018 at the age of 77 years. He was preceded in death by his sister Doris and brother Stephen. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Ethel "Peggy" Brown; his children Timothy W. Brown (Sonya), Maria Brown-Richardson; brothers Clarence "Billy" Brown, Mark Brown (Suzanne), and Dale Brown (Linda); sisters Elaine Crawford, Alicia Brown, stepsister Betty Simons; grandchildren: Jennifer Richardson, Timothy W, Brown, Jr, Jasmine Gordon (deceased), Jeffrey Richardson, Neshaun Gordon, and Alexis Brown; Great grandchildren Keegan and Kaylee Richardson, and host of nieces, nephews, other family, and the friends of Hope Side Senior Living Community.
