George C. McEwen Sr.

George Clenton McEwen Sr. was born October 28, 1957 in Oxford, Mississippi to the late Nettie Mae McEwen and George Junior McEwen. George attended and graduated from John Marshal High School. Prior to him becoming disabled, his employment included Chef at Christopher's, Construction, Manger at Micro Metals, and Chef at Greater Morning Star Preparatory Christian School to name a few. George professed a hope in Christ at an early age. He enjoyed attending Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church with his children and grandchildren. He also loved to hear Pastor, Dr. Sterling L. Williams Sr. preach. George was a great chef and enjoyed cooking, playing his music and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and other family members. He loved to have fun, tell great jokes, and keep you laughing. It was a joy to be in his presence. George transitioned this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the age of 63 years. He was precedent in death by his mother Nettie Mae McEwen, brothers Jeffond McEwen and Marvin Berry, granddaughter Va’Rya Reeves, grandson George Coleman-McEwen III, and step-son Brian Barnett George leaves to cherish his memories; son George McEwen Jr. ( Mother, Bernice), daughters Shaqueta McEwen(Chris), Shawneeda McEwen, and Teonna Bates ( Mother, Pamela); brothers John Webb (Faristene), Omar Salahuddin (Zella), Jeffery McEwen (Nacy) and Christopher McEwen; sisters Lois Edwards (Jeff), Julee Cooper, Jayne Lewis (Edward), Joyce Berry, Deborah McEwen, Demita McEwen and Khadijah Seck (Matar); 9 grandchildren; aunt Dolly Kirkwood; special friends Tony Wright and Janet Waterford and a host of family and friends. Service for George will be held, 12:00 pm, Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home Peoples' Chapel, 5252 E. 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, with visitation held from 11:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm, all taken place at Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sutherland Park Cemetery, 4201 Millersville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana.
