

GEORGIA ROSS TURNER was born in Centreville, Mississippi to Gertrude Wilson and John Ross on May 19, 1930. Her early childhood years were spent in Jackson, Louisiana. She attended public school in Gloster, Mississippi, and graduated from Amite County Training School.
GEORGIA was united in marriage to Wilson T. Turner, Sr. on May 14, 1945, in Gloster, Mississippi. Her husband, Wilson, shortly thereafter was stationed in Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, before being shipped to Nuremberg, Germany to serve in World War II. To their union were born four sons and three daughters.
GEORGIA was employed as a physical therapist for Winona Hospital. She received many awards and citations from those who appreciated her dedication and excellence in the field of physical therapy. Each assignment was very important and fulfilling to her.
GEORGIA was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a woman well loved and respected who had an unwavering and unshakeable faith that would not give thought to defeat. She was very dedicated in her ministry of outreach. During many years of life’s trials and challenges of illness, she remained firm and steadfast in her faith.
GEORGIA MAE TURNER, departed this earthly life on November 20, 2023, at the age of 93 years, 6 months, and 1 day in Indianapolis, Indiana.
GEORGIA was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson T. Turner, Sr., her daughter, Bertha L. Hines, and her grandson, John A. Hayden.
GEORGIA is survived by, and leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, Achebe (Ralph), Robert, Bradley, and Wilson, Jr.; two daughters, Rose Hayden-Hawkins, and Clara Dartis; one brother, John L. Ross; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren, seventeen great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
