You know Dad I think about you often on my own, but then I have customers that have family members they talk about, and how they are passing on to where you are. 

I realize I still have not come to grips totally that you are gone. You still mean so much to me and I miss you with every waking hour.

I wonder what you are doing right now! Whatever it is, I know it is more amazing than anything we have ever experienced, or can even imagine!  I know you are surrounded by LOVE and BEAUTY!  I miss you so much! Also, I am grateful that this is just temporary!
I think of you often and the memories we shared over so many years.  I was not born into your family, but it didn't take long for me to know I belonged there, you were always so kind and gentle to me and welcomed me into the family with open arms.  I enjoyed our times together, remember cooking Shrimp and Chicken Jambalaya without a recipe?  That was the best!!!! I also remember our talks together, where I would do most of the talking, and you would either agree, disagree, or pop in a one-liner!  LOL.  You were a man of few words, but I thank you for the ones that let me know I was loved!   I am glad for being able to call you Dad!

I was just thinking I needed you for some advice. You were not here... I miss you and will have to go on with what advice I believe in my heart you would have given. It's times like this that I am at a loss and realize you are truly gone. I need your support and guidance even at 57 years old. I've messed up a lot of things in my walk but always desired to do better. You gave me that belief! Miss you my friend... Jerry

Hi daddy, just wanted to take a minute and let you know I Love and Miss you so much.  I miss your smile, your laugh, our talks, your surprise visits to Colorado, I just miss you.  I want to thank you for always being there whenever we needing you, for everything you did for me and our family.  The love you showed us, the beliefs you instilled in us, the morals you taught us and the life lessons you prepared us for.  You were are rock, the stibility in our family.  There was nothing you wouldn't do for anyone of us even when we were making the wrong moves or decisions.  You saw us through too the end of whatever we were going through.  Thank you Daddy for being you.  God Blessed each one of us and everyone you met.  You will forever live on in our hearts and in all the memories we have.  
I looked to you for strength, encouragement, logic, a hug, a kind word and the list goes on and on.  I'm so sorry for all pain you had to endure and the many scars that were left behind.

Dad, Your endless love and effortless smile made everyone feel welcomed in your home and heart. You were the first man I loved and that place in my heart will always be yours. You were the rock and strength of our family and this life here will never be the same without you.

Thank you for the many lessons you taught us through the way you lived your life, the standards you held strong to and the battles you overcame. Your scars were many, but they never dimmed the joy within you.

I always remember dads leadership... The times he showed me how to rebuild a lawnmower engine to the time we took months to soup up a 455 big block buick engine and drop it in a 67 olds 442... "awesome car". Dad taught me to live life but be responsible in the process. I didn't say I always listened! But he was always good at giving short, direct answers that made sense. There are so many things I remember about pop but, the things that come quicker to the surface are the ways he cared for everyone. He always helped me when I needed it even when he was upset with me... The world has lost a true servant but gained an admirable angel... Love you with all my heart Pop.

Dad, you were the greatest person in every way, shape and form.  You had the heart of gold and spread so much joy and love to so many people in such a short amount of time. You were an Angel sent from above that has now been called home. I feel beyond blessed to call you my father and not a day goes by that you are forgotten. You were the greatest thing to happen to so many people. You will forever live in my heart, mind, and soul. I love you and miss you more then words can ever express. Live, Love, and laugh in Heaven until we meet again, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH DAD!

Memory - Waking up after having my 1st daughter to Grandpa waiting there to see me and her.

My favorite memory of Grandpa was when my own father passed away. I went to Grandpa's house and he made my favorite veggie soup and cucumbers with vinegar. He reassured me that my dad loved me and that he loved me as well. He also texted me the entire trip to make sure that I was OK. (I never thought he was that lovey, but he was) LOVE U

Fishing at the Geist Reservoir when I was 8. I slipped on the dirt path and fell into 6' of water. Dad reached into the lake and pulled me out by my hair. He said, "WOW, you're a mess".

There are so many wonderful memories with the man I call G-PA. So many it is hard to choose! So, I will start with the memory when I first realized he loved me. I was about 11 yrs old and we went on a boating trip. I woke up that morning very sick but chose to go anyway. He made me a make shift bed in the back of his pickup truck and bought me gatorade. He checked on me several times to make sure I didn't need anything and made me feel very special from that moment on. He chose to love me. I will always be grateful for that choice. The man I call G-PA was never a choice after that moment I was a very new grandchild to him and he a new grandfather to me but the love was automatic.

Grandpa, where to begin...
Your smile so warm and inviting was always able to light up any room or mood. 
Living with you my senior year meant so much to me. It allowed us to create a bond that can never be broken. Thank you for always being there and your humorous nature will always put a smile on my face and keep you living in my heart and memories.

PS. Will never forget the day you met my friend and of course in your nature you hit on her and all I could think was 
"oh Grandpa".

Thanks for teaching me to drive and loaning me your car! Even though you didn't know you loaned it to me.

There are far to many memories to mention, but the last couple of years being with him day in and day out he was the best room mate anyone could ask for. 

I will miss his laugh, smile, and knowledge.


I remember when all Grandpa had to do was pretend to unbuckle his belt to get me back in line :) This didn't happen very often.....just sayin

I also remember Grandpa got me my first cat..Tiger and then proceeded to date Phyllis "The cat lady" 

I have a slew of these tidbits. He just made me feel special and loved... I can honestly say I don't have a bad memory. He was a rare man and loved so deep and purely..and I am so blessed to call him my Grandpa.

Daddy #3 here, I want to THANK YOU for being you.  The most loving caring Dad any kid would want on their side through out their life.  You hit it out of the ball park in my eyes.  There was never a time that I couldn't come to you for what ever reason or season that you wouldn't make your time available to just listen even if you had your own thing going on.  I know that you are now in heaven and you are still watching over each of us.  We all miss you so, but we know you are pain free and skipping on streets of gold.  I am so blessed to have been with you Sunday to just hold your hand, talk a little, laugh a little and see you smile.  The Lord called you home on Monday morning and my heart was breaking.  I didn't want you to go.  I wanted more time with you.  I'm sorry I was being selfish, that's what happens when you love someone so much.  I know I will see you again one day and that will be a day of joy.  I am proud to be your daughter and even more proud to call you Daddy.  Thank you for everything you did for me through out my life the morals and respect and the life lessons you taught me.  I am who I am because of you.  Rest in Peace Daddy until we meet again.

Eulogy for Dad. 


I just want to start off and say thank you for everyone being here today. I know my dad is so very proud looking down on us and seeing how much he is deeply loved by each and everyone of you. He was truly an Angel sent from Heaven that was here with us for 74 wonderful years. There are not enough words that can describe the loss that is felt in the hearts of everyone in this family, nor can they begin to tell you how amazing of a Dad, Father, Grandfather, brother, and a true friend to everyone he was. He always had everyone else's best interests at heart before his own and he touched the lives of so many people that even he did not know them all. Even though he has been called to Heaven for his wings as an Angel, he will constantly live in our memories, our hearts and through the many children that he had that will carry his name so high, forever and ever. I am so thankful for all of the memories that we had together with the smiles and laughter we always shared. You always blessed people with your witty charm and amazingly contagious smile that could change the mood of a room in an instant. You had that effect on everyone. You were the go to man, the Mr. Fix it, the problem solver of all problem solvers. You had all the answers to almost every problem, and were always there at a moments notice. Everyone called on you when they were in need because you where the one everyone could count on every time. You were our everything. It brings me peace knowing you are no longer in pain or suffering. That is all healed now.  
I will tell you all today, God had some well laid out plans when he created Dad so he could forever change the lives of others. Dad, you succeeded farther then you even realize. The love that you shared with everyone is extraordinary. If I could grow up to be half of the man that you were,  I would feel accomplished. 

I would like to read an email that I personally sent him in January of this year. It states

Hey dad, just wanted to tell you that I love you and miss you.I also wanted to tell you how much you mean to me and how much you have changed my life for the better. I honestly don't know where I would be today without your guidance at such a young age. Over the years I have made a ton of mistakes and through every one of them you were there to help and support me even if you already had told me that I was going to make that mistake. Your continued guidance through right and wrong in my life has made me who I am today. I look at how strong of a person you are and how you help everyone around you, usually before you even help yourself. You have the biggest heart and are the best Dad and Father in the world. Every single day in almost everything I do I think to myself, "What would Dad do?", and it's because you have always had the right answers to the problem. You have raised amazing kids that are raising and have raised more amazing kids, and it's all because of you. I reflect often on family more now then ever and I now see how amazing the entire Terhune family is. You were raised by amazing parents and you continued those same values into your family. These values are what is needed more then ever in today's day and age and I intend on passing those values you have instilled in me into my children. I am also so thankful that you have your country house and property and are enjoying everything you have worked so hard for. You deserve it that is for sure. I cannot express enough, how much I love you, and how thankful I am that you adopted me. I truly do not know anyone else that is as strong, caring, honest and loving as you are to everyone around you. I know I have told you all of this before,but I just wanted to take a moment and tell you again because I love you with all of my heart,and I'm sorry I don't tell you this more often but do know that not a single day goes by that you are not on my mind. You know if you ever need anything, just let me know as I'm only one call away. I love you more then words can truly express Dad. I love you,

Dad was an amazing amazing man. He had a heart of gold and will be missed dearly by everyone. If you could leave here today with a piece of his wisdom, He would say to you Love like you have never loved before, live life to the fullest with no regrets..life as we know it is too short, and lastly he would clearly want you to know that he is at peace in Heaven and that we will be reunited again soon someday. We love you Dad for all that you were and all the love you gave to each and every one of us!

We love you so much Grandpa!  You have moved on to spend eternity with our Lord, although this is a sad time for all of us I have found peace through prayer. You will be missed and our memories together will be forever cherished!  We will see each other again one day and for now rest.

May the soul of Gerald Terhune, Rest in the Peace of Our Lord and His comfort be with all the family and friends of Gerald. Amen

I looked up to you as a young child and loved being at your house...everyone did and everyone was always there. You were the center of our togetherness. As I grew older, I gained a new appreciation for you. When you became ill, it was a no brainer to come live with you. During that time, although a teenager, you were my best friend. You made me laugh, looked out for me when I made poor choices and even got mad at me...once. As much as I've always cherished all my times with you, I wish I knew then, how precious they actually were.  You walked me down the isle and I'm so grateful to have that special memory and will always hold it close to my heart. Love you, grandpa! RIP

Hi daddy #3 here, I know you are living it up and out of the pain you endured here on earth.  That in it self brings me peace.  I do miss you so much and will cherish every lesson you taught me through my life.  I want to also thank you for being the most amazing dad, you never judged me, criticised me, blamed me for what went wrong.  You were always there to listen with open arms.  You loved me unconditionally.  I love you so much.  Go dance and really start living.

I have known you such a short time compared to the scores of others that love you and miss you. But I felt accepted & loved by you from day one.  You are an amazing person who loved & led his family like few I have ever seen. I wish I'd known you longer, but grateful for the time we had. Love you Pop!

A memorial to my greatest hero... Pop, you will be missed by many and always remembered for who you were and what you stood for in this life. You taught me to do so much and loved me through some difficult times when I was undeserving of that love!
I have prayed often that we would have more opportunities to make up for the time we lost as life came between us. You instilled in me a humble nature that I pray will be reflected in my walk. You walked modestly while helping so many find their way when they struggled. You were patient with me even when my patience with you had run out. You were stern with me when you knew I needed it and assured me that it hurt you more than it would me... I believe that now! 
You taught me to remain faithful in what I believe and hopeful in others. You taught me to work hard and be honest. You taught me to find the good in others and to give where I can.
I understand that your duties here are complete. I will take all you have given me and use it to carry on your amazing legacy! I will do my very best! 
I love you dad!!! I will cherish our memories! Rest well my hero!

Hey pop... #2 here. I pray your dance is progressing well and that you are able to catch up with grandma & grandpa. In some ways I am envious but in others I find emptiness. I put off things that I wanted to do and say until it was too late. I thought we had more time? I am very grateful for what we did have and the times well spent! I will miss you very much!! I'm going to miss you so much. I'm so glad I got to come down for a week and spend it with you and the family. From you letting me ride the 4 wheeler all day and night to waking up and eating breakfast with you. I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodbye but your in a better place. I love you sooo much.

It's the Goofball, of your Son-in-Laws! :-) Your time here on earth was an absolute Blessing to all of us! You had to be one of the easiest going guys I had ever met. You were always a pleasure to be around. We just loved it when you came out to Colorado to visit us. Our kids just loved it when Grandpa Terhune was staying with us! Donna and I will certainly miss those trips that you made out for us. Oh, and by the way... You sure turned out some good lookin' Daughters! I know, I got to marry one of them! I'll be forever grateful for you & her, in my life!
Dad, You're in Paradise now with the King of Kings and the Lord of all Lords! We will see you again one day in the future when we can all be Praising our God, in all HIS Glory, together!
