

Geraldine Florence (Geri King) Dattilo, 86, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on December 6, 2022, at her home. She was born October 27, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late James King and Sylvia Holmes. As a child, she grew up on various Army bases including Fort Polk in Louisiana due to her enlisted father. In 1952, she graduated from Saint Xavier High Commercial High School in Cincinnati and in 1956, graduated from Saint Xavier Parish Community School, a secondary school in Cincinnati where she learned “stenography, book-keeping, and typesetting.”
She married John J. Dattilo on February 1, 1958, in Cincinnati, and moved to Indianapolis in 1961. She is survived by her children Angelo (Wendy) and Gina, grandchildren Shi’Anne (Julio), Anthony, and Dominic, and great-grandchildren Gianna and Camilla (Shi’Anne), and Jaxton, Hunter, Archer, Oliver, and Sophia (Anthony). She was predeceased by her brother Ronnie and is survived by her brother Tony and sister Bonnie of Cincinnati.
In 1972, she became a single mother and spent her working career in Indianapolis as an office manager for various companies, and at times, working two jobs to make ends meet. She enjoyed Gina’s horse and dog shows and Angelo’s sports; she loved doing ceramics, playing golf, traveling, and being a member of the Indianapolis Ski Club where she skied in Banff, Canada, and several places in Colorado and Michigan. She was very proud and supportive of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid activist for animal rights. After a long career, she retired in Indianapolis.
A private family internment will be followed by a calling to say goodbye to Geri on December 28, 2022, from 1 to 4 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery at 700 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Marion County Human Society, and/or Waldo's Muttley Crew Animal Rescue, and/or Silver Snout Senior Dog Rescue in Geraldine Dattilo’s name.
