

83, of Indianapolis, went to be with her Lord on December 9, 2014. Born January 30, 1931 in Chicago, IL, she graduated from the Marion County General Hospital School of Nursing and was a lifetime member of its’ alumni association. After raising her 4 children, she returned to nursing. Gwen was very proud to be on staff with the first in-patient hospice unit in Indianapolis at Methodist Hospital. She continued to work with hospice when she moved to Arizona. She was a volunteer for the Republican National Committee and assisted with the campaigns of Barry Goldwater and Richard Nixon. She was active with Women’s Bible Study Fellowship, the Order of Eastern Star and was a Eucharistic minister and prayer warrior at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Max E. Freeman and James Carter and brothers, Bill and Henry Wiemhoff. Gwen is survived by her beloved children, Max E. Freeman II, George (Belinda) Freeman, Vicki Doyle and Ike Freeman; sister, Rosemarie (Donald) LaPidus; brother, John Wiemhoff; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Gwen will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 18th at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. Fr. Jim Farrell will officiate. Interment will take place at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona – Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to The Wheeler Mission, 205 E.
