H. Philip Buhl blew one last trumpet note in his 93rd year in Indianapolis, IN. Born on a farm in Irvington, IL, September 6, 1918, to the late Mary Holloway and Herbert Buhl, he and Anne Louise DeRuntz fell in love at first sight on Anne's birthday in 1941. Married November 1941, they had two beautiful daughters, Patricia and Cheryl. During 70 years of marriage, Phil and Anne enjoyed a long fulfilling life residing in Momence, IL, Jacksonville, FL, and Bloomington and Indianapolis, IN.
After graduating from Centralia High School, Phil's attendance at Northwestern University was cut short by the start of the war. He built a varied and successful career as an accountant and controller for construction or land development companies, finally retiring from Stanley Herman Homes, Northcrest Management in 1985 as Vice President. His love of automobiles and Siberian huskies surpasses all but that for his family.
He is survived by loving wife, Anne; daughters, Patricia Buhl, Bellingham, WA, and Cheryl Buhl (Robert Trickett), Eugene, OR; grandchildren Nicole Trickett, San Francisco, CA, Sebastian Trickett, Portland, OR, Scott Pawlowski (Kay), Aiea, HI, and Julian Pawlowski, Jr. (Kimberly Dooley), Marietta, GA; and great grandchildren Alexander, Katherine, William, Elizabeth, and Daniel Pawlowski.
