Helen Frances Welsh

88, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2015 at St. Paul’s Hermitage in Beech Grove. Helen was born in Indianapolis on September 17, 1926, the daughter of Francis and Louise (Braun) Wuensch. She graduated as valedictorian of her class at Sacred Heart High School in Indianapolis and attended business classes at Marian College, before working for Reicho Chemical for several years in Detroit, Michigan. Helen married her beloved husband Maurice Michael Welsh on July 4, 1947, and they were married for 59 years before his passing in 2006. Helen was very active for many years as a volunteer at Holy Spirit Parish, in the Lawrence School System, and with OASIS. Helen is survived by her and Maury’s five children: Michael Gregory Welsh, M.D., Therese Mary Corsones, Esq., David Joseph Welsh, M.D., Kathleen Patricia Welsh, C.P.A., and Steven Christopher Welsh, Esq. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law Mary (Klopfenstein) Welsh and Mary Beth (Simmermeyer) Welsh, sons-in-law Cortland Corsones and Gary Loveman, grandchildren Matt, Megan (and husband Noah), Nick, Jeremy, Katie (and husband Robert), Monica, Mark, Brendan, Andy, Kristine, Mallory and Caroline, and great-grandchildren Alexander, Shiloh and Micah. Helen consistently encouraged her children and grandchildren to do their best, and reminded them daily “if you can’t say something nice about someone, say nothing at all”, which is how Helen lived her entire life.

Helen is also survived by her brother, Charles Wuensch and her sister, Dorothy Logsdon. She was pre-deceased by her parents and by her siblings Mary Wuensch, Katharine Michaelis and John Wuensch.

Calling hours will be Thursday, March 12 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Indianapolis. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery in Carmel.
