Jack Duane Orebaugh, age 91, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021. Jack was born on April 11, 1929 in Indianapolis to the late William P. and Martha C. Orebaugh. He graduated from Washington High School. After high school, he served in the United States Marine Corps, where he earned a Purple Heart for his service in Korea. He married Mae L. Cunningham and they spent nearly 70 years happily together. His career as a Dental Lab Technician spanned over 60 years.
As a child, Jack was very involved in the Boy Scouts and he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He passed on his passion for the Boy Scouts to his sons and grandsons, who all also earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which came to a total of 7 Eagle Scouts in the family. He was also a volunteer fireman for the Wayne Township Fire Department Co. #9 for 15 years. Jack was a member of the Lion's Club for more than 50 years. He was also a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church for 60 years.
Jack is survived by his wife, Mae L. Orebaugh; sons, Stephen (Teri) Orebaugh and Douglas (Tammy) Orebaugh; daughter, Susan (Kraig) Proehl; siblings, Betty (the late Chuck) Moos, Pat Hardy and Glenn (Barbara) Orebaugh; brother-in-law, Robert Harris and sister-in-law, Joann Orebaugh; grandchildren, Aaron (LaNette) Orebaugh, Katie (Luke) Erickson, Chris (Brittany) Proehl, Ben Proehl and Samuel Orebaugh; step grandchildren, Jamie (Glenna) Cornwell, Angie Ramey and Candace Cornwell; and great grandchildren, Lydia Cornwell, Everett Erickson and Emily Proehl.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Stephen Douglas Orebaugh; siblings, Dorothy Davis, Mary Wilson, William Orebaugh, Maxine Johnson, Pete Harris and Ray Orebaugh.
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Family Funeral Care - Rockville West.
