A man who lived a life with no boundaries.

No limit to the love he gave, and no restrictions to the accomplishments he made.

He cared for others with the fullness of his heart and the kindness of his soul.

A Man you thought would never grow old.

He was a Q steppin’, cornhole throwin’, dart shootin’, horseback ridin’, card playin’ , Crown and Mickey Drinking, karaoke singing, rib and green cooking, construction building, Motha.......Ooooo Watch Yo’ Mouth.

Ready to conquer any challenge at any time.

James was born on January 21, 1955 to James Epps and (late) Rosetta McGee-Epps.; in Huntington, West Virgina. Yet, was raised in Kentucky with his family the ‘Smiths’. Later extending his roots to Indianapolis. He attended Garrard Country High School, where he graduated. He also attended Eastern Kentucky University, where he Pledged Omega Psi Phi. He worked and retired from Amtrak Railroad after 20 years. He collaborated with several in business, and eventually built his own named ‘Epps and Pearson Construction’.

He was a Great partner, mentor and coach, communicator, listener, friend and Family Man. He only wished to secure the bond and strength of his Family.

James leaves behind three (3) Children; Jamel McKitric, Jeremy Epps, and Jasmine Epps. Six (6) Grandchildren; Moesha Mikitric, Dyamond Epps, Harmoni Epps, Jeremy L. Epps II, Kaia Epps, and Keira Epps. Four (4) Siblings; John Collins, Teresa Epps, Henry Epps, and Edna Morale. Two (2) Foster Brothers; Greg and Chris Smith. Precedes Roosetta Epps (Mother). Jerry Smith (Foster Mom), Larry Epps (Brother), and Mark Smith (Foster Brother).

Along his journey in life, he adopted many, many, many more into the Family.

Never separating the love, he had for any of us, blood or extended! Our family is crazy, complicated, annoying, a Loving Family is the Most Important thing in Life, Wonderful, Supportive, Embarrassing, Fun, Best Friends, definitely not Traditional.

Just like James.

He was a gift to All of Us and Will Be Greatly Missed.

James Epps Jr., age 66, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021.

Service for James will be held, 12:00 pm, Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home Peoples' Chapel, 5252 E. 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, with visitation held from 10:00am until the OMEGA Tribute at 11:30 am leading into the service at 12:00 pm, all taken place at Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home.
