

James Russell West, 88, woke up in the Lord’s arms on December 6, 2010. He was born October 31, 1922 in Beech Grove, Indiana. He was always proud of his Halloween birthday. Russell “Jim” was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Hessie (Barker) West (Durler) and his sister, Pauline Kuhar. Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Ellen (Klinglesmith) West; daughters, Amy (David) Moore and Belinda (Tim) McConahay; granddaughter, Alison (Josh) Staton; great-granddaughter, Makenna Staton; sister, Charlotte Bohall; and numerous nieces and nephews. Russell graduated from Beech Grove High School. After high school he worked at New York Central Railroad. He served in the Army in World War II. When New York Central closed, he went to work for Eli Lilly & Co. as a lab technician in the Research and Development Department before retiring in 1986. He was a member of Franklin Central Christian Church and was previously a long-time member of First Christian Church of Beech Grove. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, December 10, 2010 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at Little & Sons Funeral Home, Stop 11 Road Chapel, where the memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m.
