

James "Tony" Anthony Williams, born on April 25, 1940, in Indianapolis, passed away on December 22, 2025, at the age of 85. Tony was the beloved son of Ted and Mabel Williams and was the fourth of five children, and the only boy in the family.
On June 16, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart and girl next door, Brenda Jewell, and they had two children, Tammy and Todd. Their marriage lasted for 16 years.
Tony met Penny Coons in 1980 and they married May 25, 1985. For 25 years, he lived his dream of living in Florida with Penny. At the age of 70, he returned to Indiana to be with his family.
Tony had a rich and varied life, with time spent stationed in Germany while in the Navy and attending submarine school and later stationed on the USS Trout. He was a man of many interests and hobbies, including diving, spelunking, drawing, developing film, golf, fishing, wood carving, and boating.
Tony spent most of his career in sales. He worked for Williams Brothers Pharmacy and Frito Lay until he was 84. He loved eating at Cracker Barrel and playing pinball.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Penny Williams, his daughter Tammy (Michael) Murphy, his son Todd (Jamie) Williams and his sister Cheryl (Bobby) Piland.
Tony had four grandchildren: Dave Couch, Rachel McComas, Tiffany Couch, and Brandon Williams. He also had four great grandchildren: Morgan Wagner, Leighella McComas, Madi Couch, and Mason Couch.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at The Sanctuary of Beech Grove, located at 2991 E Troy Ave, Beech Grove, IN 46107, on January 17, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Tony's presence will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
