Janice (Allen) Goers

Janice Shirley Allen was born on February 6, 1926, in Clinton County, Iowa, the daughter of William and B. Louise Allen. She was a 1943 graduate of Lyons High School. Janice had worked as a telephone operator and in the Clinton County Auditor’s office. She loved her 24 years of service in the Children’s Department of

the Clinton Public Library. She touched the lives of many children and families.

Janice loved reading (especially mysteries), Perry Mason television shows, crocheting, ice cream, and above all else her family. She treasured her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed being “watched over” by the family dogs.

Janice is survived by her sons Lee (Lorie) of Camanche, IA and Steven (Willona) of Des Moines, IA; daughter Lynn Hixson of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Corrie (John), Robert (Lauren), Cassie, Kelli (Joe), Kathi (David), and Andy (Chelsea); 7 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren. Janice was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ralph Allen; and one infant sister, Audrey Allen.

A private inurnment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Children’s Department of the Clinton Public Library.
