Jeffrey received his elementary education at St. Andrews Catholic School. He attended and graduated from North Central High School in 1986. While at North Central, Jeffrey learned his skills in welding at the J Everett Light Career Center. That training aided him as he moved on in life. After High School he attended and graduated from Ivy Tech Community College.
In Jeffrey’s younger years, many in our family started bowling. As time went on Jeffrey picked up on the game of bowling as well. Jeffrey wasn’t a good bowler; he was a great bowler. He played in various leagues in Indianapolis. He used to bowl at Woodland bowl a lot. Jeffrey would go to various bowling tournaments with his cousin Gregory. In the bowling alleys Jeffrey used to refer to be referred to as one of the “Alcorn Boys” and knew they were the team to beat. They won various tournaments and earned various trophies.
He also enjoyed fishing. His father introduced him to fishing as a child. As he got older, he enjoyed fishing more and more. He went from fishing at local creeks, rivers, and reservoirs to start taking fishing trips to Canada and Florida Keys. Every year he and his cousin Gregory would plan trips where they would get a fishing charter lined up where they would have a Captain to take them out on his boat fishing in the Florida Keys for several days. When they came back from their trips, they would have a cooler full of fish.
We can’t forget his years of being a diehard Colts fan. He has been a regular season ticket holder for years with his friend Brian. Last year Jeffrey got a group of his family together so we could go to the Colts Training Camp in Westfield. Everyone had a great time last year and was looking forward to possibly getting to do it again.
Jeffrey first job was with Kroger. Later years he worked at Kohl’s including working in their electronics department. He was currently working at General Motors at the Fort Wayne Assembly as a Journeyman Electrician. He started with General Motors Stamping Plant in Indianapolis where he started his apprenticeship. There was never a doubt that Jeffrey was going to excel in his job. He enjoyed his various jobs during his 32 years of service.
Jeffrey was well respected wherever he worked. He had a lot of friends that loved him and liked his quick sense of humor. He enjoyed working with new apprentices. He always tried to train them in the best way for them to learn. He was once in their shoes 32 years ago.
Jeffrey is survived by his sister Janet K. Alcorn; Uncle John A. Alcorn; Aunt Marie Bates; Aunt Shirley Alcorn and a host of cousins and friends.
A visitation for Jeffrey will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 1060 W. 30th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
