Jerry Baxter Sr., 66 of Indianapolis, passed away on August 7th, 2023 in Greenwood, IN.
Jerry Baxter was born in Indianapolis, IN to mother, Willie Bee Redd Baxter and father, Jesse Baxter Sr. on April 25, 1957. He graduated from Woods High School in Indianapolis. He married Margaret (Rita) Baxter in April of 1983. Jerry and Margaret had two children together, Terri and Jerry Jr. Jerry worked in landscaping and as a CNA at different times during his working years. Jerry’s true passion was in writing and poetry. Over the course of his life he shared hundreds of poems with family and friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Jesse Baxter, his brothers, Michael and Larry Baxter.
He is survived by his son, Jerry Baxter Sr.; daughter, Terri Baxter Boyd, son-in-law Frederick Boyd; brother, “Chris” Jesse Baxter Jr., sisters, Gosidelle Baxter, Ella Gene Baster, Debbie Ann Baxter, Wanda Cecilia Baxter, Betty Ann Baxter, Claree Baxter, Marie Baxter, and Valerie Baxter; Granddaughter Elizabeth Rose Baxter Boyd; ex-wife and lifelong friend, Margaret Baxter; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation for Jerry will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
