Jess or J, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her magnetic personality and fairy like demeanor on her earth's journey was love, compassion, and joy. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her all around the world.
Jessalyn is survived by her loving mother, Vicki Oxford Winkel and her stepfather, Rick Winkel. Her father, Ron Oxford, who left this world along with her maternal and paternal Grandmothers, Wilma Crowley and Margaret Oxford are all waiting for her in heaven. Both her grandfathers are still with us, Cletis Crowley and Gerald Oxford, her Aunt Deb Oxford Smith and her Uncle Rich Smith. Her life partner, Aaron Evans, the love of her life, was there to comfort her at the end.
She graduated from the 2000 class of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, IN and was a varsity cheerleader and in also in college. Furthering her education, she graduated from Evangel College in Springfield. MO and continued her studies at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA. As a member of Lakeview Temple in Indianapolis, she enjoyed mission trips to Ireland, Guatemala, Venezuela and India.
With all her training in gymnastics, dance and cheerleading, she was impassioned with mat and acro yoga and taught in Indianapolis, New York, Louisiana, Japan, and Panama, Always seeking adventure and wanderlust, she graced the sky in her yoga as a little flyer reaching for the heavens, where her soul has united with the angels. She brought awe and joy to those who were granted the opportunity to see her perform. As a free spirit she and Aaron moved to Bocos del Toro, Panama and were business owners of The Floating Bar. She loved nature and the beauty of the islands and fell in love with the people and community and was in her "happy place". Her support dog, Ollie the great dane never left her side and was her constant companion.
She had a rare gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed her path. Her light will shine in our hearts forever and may her memory be a blessing to carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do.
The Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Jessalyn Leean Oxford will be held at a later date to be disclosed. In lieu of flowers she would have loved your contributions to the Lupus and Epilepsy Foundations.
