He grew up in Leiters Ford, IN. He joined the ROTC while working his way through Purdue University. On June 1, 1952, he graduated with a mechanical engineering degree and also married the love of his life, Marjorie Guyer, that same day. And so the adventure began. He then served in the Air Force as a 1st lieutenant. Upon completing his service in 1954, he and Marjorie started their family of four boys and a 36 year career with Allison’s. His career was highlighted by many aircraft engine contributions with most being military aircraft. Namely, the A7 Corsair, C130, and Huey Helicopters. He retired in 1990 and he and Marjorie began pursuing their passion of traveling here and abroad. They made many new friends in the Happy Days Club while wintering in Florida. Also, they found great joy in attending events of their grandchildren and great grandchildren. John loved using his talent of slipping puns in conversation and subjected to his “pun”ishment to all throughout his life. His boys proudly carry on that legacy much to the annoyance of their friends and families.
John is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Marjorie: sons John, Larry, Steve (Mary), Brian (Robin): sister Cheryl: 12 grandchildren: 20 great grandchildren: 1 great great grandchild: and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
