I met Dr. Blakley in the mid 2000's in my insurance office only to meet again in the ER when I have a heart attach, he saved my life. After that we talked on many occlusions . He was a very gentle man an very easy to talk to. I enjoyed talk with him many time . When he left NC I lost track of him . I am so sorry to hear of his passing, the world lost a real treasure.

As you are on this new journey of life without him by your side, may you find comfort in the pain, may you find peace in the storms, and always be guided by the love and life he lead you to live. Prayers for all!!!

I became a pharmaceutical rep in late 2011, still am to this day. One of the aspects of our job is to discuss medicine with the providers within our geography. Sometimes, those business relationships turn into friendships. I met Dr. Blakely in early January of 2012 when he began working in Bowling Green. I would visit with him once a week at first but eventually it would become 2 or 3 times a week if my schedule would allow it. I would sometimes spend over an hour speaking with him during these visits. We rarely talked about medicine. Instead, we talked about life, our families, the current events, etc. I came to know the tremendous amount of love he had for his family, especially his grandson, whom he was so proud of. He shared with me so much wisdom and insight that you could only hope to receive from someone twice your age. He was full of so much information that I took as many opportunities as I had to soak it up. When my 2nd daughter was born 2013, he gave me a gift for her, which to this day is the most thoughtful thing anyone has done for me in terms of people I have come to know through my work. I enjoyed bringing my oldest daughter, Audrey, to visit him throughout those years we had formed a relationship. She enjoyed talking with him and he would always give her a lollipop. I was displaced from my job in 2016, and as soon as I found employment later that year, I came to find out that he had transferred to Elizatbethtown. I wanted so bad to tell him what had happened to me and catch him up to speed but it took me until late 2017 to get there. This was the last time I would see him. It was as though we had picked up right where we left off like we did all those times before. I was able to tell him about the birth of my son, and tell him how big my girls have gotten. Dr. Blakely was the 1st friend I had in the world of medicine. I will forever treasure the talks we had and time we shared together.
