78, of Indianapolis departed this life October 13, 2015. She was born December 14, 1936 in Jasper, Indiana to the late Elmer and Bernice (Gerber) Eckert. She worked in clinical research at Eli Lilly for 28 years, retiring in 1988. She was a longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. Vitale. She is survived by her daughter, Fran (Paul) Hein, grandchildren, Kristin Elizabeth Vitale and Alexander Douglas Hein; brothers, Charles and Denny Eckert. Visitation will be from 10:30 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Entombment follows at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
