Karen Sue (Haulk) Syrus, 76, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Karen was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and graduated from Harry E. Wood H.S. in 1965. She was the proud owner of Poodle Paradise Dog Grooming shop for many of years. Her love for her family, friends, animals, and Diet Pepsi is what Karen will be remembered most for. When someone would ask her how she was doing her reply would be "Fat and Sassy" and that is how people knew her.
Karen attended Emmaus Lutheran Church and Garfield Park Christian church along side of her husband Douglas Syrus (deceased).
Karen is survived by her Step-Daughter Dawn Syrus, her Niece Ruby (Ron) Hartwell, and her Great Nieces and Nephew Amber Freeman (Bowles), Ashley (Jimmy) Wells, Katriana Houpt, Chelsea Houpt, and Lucas Houpt. She also leaves behind her most beloved great-great nieces, nephews and several great-great-great nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Karen will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at Family Funeral Care-Rockville West, 5791 Rockville Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46224. A visitation will occur Thursday, September 12, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 1224 Laurel St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46203. A funeral service will occur Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Emmaus Lutheran Church, 1224 Laurel St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46203.
Karen will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208.
