Kenneth Lee Reed Departed this life on Friday, February 5, 2021 at the age of 73 years old. Kenneth was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 1, 1947, to the late King S. Reed and Essie Reed. Kenneth was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Marcia Gay Reed on August 9, 1996. They were very blessed with 24 years of marriage. Kenneth confessed a faith in Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of (LWCC) Light of the World Christian Church until his health began to fail him. Kenneth was employed at (DFAS) The Defense Finance and Accounting Service Center for 30 years and retired in 2005. Kenneth served in the United States Air Force from 1966 thru 1973 where he was an Aircraft Mechanic. Kenneth received an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force in 1973. Kenneth was a Disabled Vietnam Veteran who served two tours in Vietnam. Kenneth attended IPS School #87 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1965 where he was very active in sports. Kenneth was an avid reader, enjoyed family, cooking, jazz music, gardening, fishing and sports. He also enjoyed being on the School #87 Reunion Committee and being a member of The (SBC), Successful Sister and Brother In Partnership Investment Club in which he started. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0249 on Martin Luther King Jr. Street, where his father was The Commander for many years. Kenneth will be forever loved, missed and remembered for his humor, his willingness to help others, and for his kindness to all those he loved and cared about. Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife; Mrs. Marcia Gay Reed, brothers; Mr. Larry (Barbara) Reed, Mr.Gerald (Gwendolyn) Reed, nieces; Mrs. Dana (Richard) Reed Wise and Devin Reed, nephews; Drake Wise, Damon (Oleta) Reed, step daughters; Mrs. Bridget C. (Billy) Wharton and Ms. Myla R. Armstrong along with a host of other nieces, nephews and family members. Visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 11:00am-1:00pm in the Memorial Chapel. A private family Homegoing Celebration will take place at 1:00pm. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery at a later time. www.crownhill.org
