

Larry attended Indianapolis Public School #87 and was a proud graduate of Crispus Attucks High School. After high school he transitioned to Purdue University where he earned a Bachelor of Science and Master’s of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering.
Larry entered the armed forces during the Vietnam War and served as an Army mechanic, where he repaired and rebuilt the engines of helicopters during the Vietnam War. For his service and time, he was
awarded numerous medals and certificates of achievements for his valor in the war. Once the war ended, he returned to the U.S. and began his career as an engineer for Allison Gas Turbine: A Division of General Motors, and Rolls-Royce for 43 years. Then he retired and formed his own company in 2005 called Orbit International Corporation where he was a consultant for aero-engineer support and international sales. He did this for 10 years and then finally settled into the next chapter in his life.
Larry was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., and a member of The Historic Bachelor’s Benedict Club. He also served as deacon and elder at Witherspoon Presbyterian Church and was a member for 50 years. Larry was a devoted father and husband who enjoyed traveling abroad and working in his yard.
Larry’s life was one that truly made a positive and memorable impact on everyone he encountered. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Verna Mae Banks; father, Theodore A. Banks; and his infant brother, Leon.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 41 years, Catherine Banks; two daughters, Natalie Banks and Yolanda (Darran Teamor); two grandchildren, Ashley Teamor and Cameron Teamor; and one
brother, Elroy Banks; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Larry will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Witherspoon Presbyterian Church, 3535 Kessler Blvd N Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46222, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
