

She professed a love for Christ at an early age as she was a Member of Light of the World Missionary Baptist Church. It was her young faith that brought her through a lot of tough times in her life. As a child she attended Riverside School #44. LaTasha was an amazing athlete and it was at Farrington Middle where she truly was able to show the city her talent. LaTasha loved basketball and she had speed like nobody had ever seen before. She was an all- around athlete playing other sports like volleyball and track & field. She was an active member of the varsity basketball and track team at Northwest High School. LaTasha was an All-City athlete and a star on the rise.
To know LaTasha was to know an angel. She looked out for any and every one. She was kind and very selfless. She impacted the lives of many with her caring nature and her encouraging words. LaTasha never judged a soul. She worked very hard ever since high school LaTasha maintained steady employment until she fell ill.
LaTasha Renee Boyd departed this life Dec. 18, 2013 in the evening at the age of 27. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Mary Stevenson, Annette and Chester Boyd, step-grandfather Fred Stevenson, cousins Allen Jackson, Sr. & Jesse Jackson III, and her infant son Terrian Nichols.
She leaves to cherish her memory: mother Patricia Watkins (Jimmy), father Bennie Boyd (Tonya), sister Nakia Johnson (Eli), step-sisters Shanice and Shalonda Watkins, brothers Adrian Boyd (Kayla) and Shawn Boyd; 11 nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The visitation will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2013, 10am to 12pm, with the homegoing celebration commencing at 12pm at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. The burial will be in Sutherland Park Cemetery.
