Born on October 11, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of Robert “Bob” Stanton and Dorothy “Dottie” Jane Kendall.
Lee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and aunt. She will be remembered for her loyal friendship, tenacity, love of nature, and generosity. Lee often joked that she had daughters 15 years apart because “she could only ever parent one at a time”, but if you know her you know she was selling herself short. She was never just parenting one daughter at a time- she was watching grandkids, nieces, nephews, and neighbors, caring for ailing friends, showering those she loved with phone calls and gifts “just because”, hosting birthday parties, and pouring her heart into advocating for the most vulnerable of children and their families through her career as Social Worker. Her natural caregiving was apparent in all that she did and to all that had the privilege of knowing her. She loved researching family genealogy, gardening, reading, and exploring her favorite city and museums. She had a thirst for knowledge, getting her MBA “for fun” and learning Spanish and piano in her later years. But most of all, she loved spending time with her six grandchildren, who she unapologetically spoiled.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Greg Horvath, daughters Shae Russell (Michael) and Shannon Murphy (Ted), grandchildren, Corrinne, Robert, Marty, Penny, Liam, and Dottie, sister Amy Kendall, brother Mark Kendall (Becky), and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Dottie Kendall.
A private celebration of life will be held- please contact family directly for more information. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Hospice or the Sierra Club in her honor.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
