

Leo was born in Vinton, Virginia and was the son of Wilbert Jackson Scott and Mary Lillian Sink Scott and was born on May 29, 1933. He graduated from William Byrd High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with a ranking as Corporal up until his honorable discharge in 1955. With always a keen interest in electronics at an early age, he retired as a Product Specialist Analysis for Thomson Consumer Electronics (formally RCA) as one of their early MS-DOS code writers developing searchable product lists. Shortly after retirement, Leo quickly found his next calling in life and became the first volunteer of Second Helpings food rescue mission beginning in 1998. He loved giving of his time to support the mission they served and held a 23 year long record for the most volunteer hours in the organization with 7,030 hours on record and a service award named in his honor.
Leo W. Scott is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Holton Scott.
Surviving are two daughters Debra Harlan and her husband Robert L. Harlan of Charlestown, IN, Jennie S. Walker of Lexington, KY and one son Joshua L. Scott and his wife Lori Elson Scott of Indianapolis. One sister Doris Gentilini of Virginia Beach, VA and her three children Michael, Donald and Maria five grandchildren: Kelly, Lauren, Emily, Erica and Holly, five great grandchildren Mackenzie, Drew, Evie, Silas, Bryce and partner Pat Dausch.
A visitation for Leo will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
