On a Monday morning, in a cold New Jersey town a beautiful little girl was born, Linda Sharon Smith. Daughter and only child to Thomas and Elizabeth Smith, she came into this world during one of the most trying times in the worlds history. Part of the so called silent generation little Linda was a ray of sunshine and guarantee that thing could only get better.
76 years ago she became a whole new person.
On a saturday afternoon, in a quaint Indiana church Linda took a leap and jumped the broom with the love of her life and now husband Harry. They met on a city bus that they both took to work during the week until he finally had the courage to ask her out with a bouquet of flowers and their love grew with every passing ride downtown.
53 years ago she became a loving wife
On a Friday in a stuffy office building on the south side of town Mr. and Mrs. Wood sat patiently while a rambunctious toddler was playing on the brown shag carpet. A friend of the family bob lively was finalizing the adoption papers for the bouncing baby boy she had tried for so long to have, and thanks to a near perfect turn of events she was finally getting her wish.
41 years ago she became what she so longed to be, a mother.
Early in the morning a few days ago the one and only mother I have ever known closed her eyes for the last time. Fighting for 2 weeks against this devil of a disease covid-19 this little 5 foot nothing white haired lady hung on as long as she could. She kissed my boo-boos when I fell when I was little. She held me tightly when I ran into the corner of a table and got this scar on my forehead. She even tolerated my rebellious teenage years, well somewhat, but I loved this woman every day of my life. I can never joke with her by putting something up on shelf out of her reach or rubbing my fingers together to make the noise that would bother her so. I was definitely a difficult child but my mommy never found loving me difficult at all.
On December 29th 2020 Linda Sharon wood became what she deserved to be; An Angel.
