

Lorraine was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ethel Frances Locke and Coleman Cherry C. Cook on January 26, 1947. She went to school at Fulton Junior High and Ben Davis High School. She married Simon Anderson Jr. on January 14, 1969 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She worked as a Key Hole Punch Operator, A Housewife, Clerk at BMG Music Group and later retired doing Domestic Work.
We are here to announce the passing of Lorraine, fondly know as Nonny, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. Lorraine's (Nonny) life was characterized by love, kindness and unwavering dedication to her family.
Lorraine, to her loved ones as Nonny, was pillar of strength and within her family. One of her most cherished values was the unwavering care and support she provided to her children. Lorraine dedicated herself wholeheartedly to ensuring that her children never wanted for anything, not just in terms of material possessions, but also in love, guidance, and encouragement.
Lorraine's children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and she spared no effort in nurturing their dreams, supporting their endeavors, and being a constant source of strength in their lives. Her legacy of putting family first will forever be etched into the hearts of those she held dear, a reminder of the profound impact that love and dedication can have on shaping the lives of others.
Lorraine's (Nonny) hobbies included Barbequing, fishing, sewing, gardening, puzzles, crochet, and cooking, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her love for them was immeasurable, and she made sure they always felt cherished and adored.
A remarkable woman, Lorraine (Nonny) faced the challenges of raising four children at a young age with grace and strength. Despite any difficulties she may have encountered, she shielded her children from it all, allowing them to experience the joys of childhood without worry.
Lorraine (Nonny) had a welcoming spirit and a knack for making everyone feel at home in her presence. Her home at 3902 Millersville Dr. was always filled with laughter and joy, especially during the lively card games and holidays she enjoyed with her family and friends.
One of her trademarks was her late-night cooking sessions, where the aroma of her delicious meals would waft through the house, beckoning everyone to the kitchen. Her steak dinners were a particular favorite, and she never hesitated to share a piece with anyone who asked.
Lorraine, affectionately known as Nonny, was a beacon of light and warmth in the lives of all who knew her. One of her most defining qualities was her unwavering generosity and hospitality. Lorraine's home was not just a place where she lived; it was a sanctuary for anyone in need of a safe haven. She opened her doors to friends and family, providing them with a place to stay and a listening ear.
Whether it was a family member going through a tough time, a friend in need of temporary shelter, or someone who simply needed a comforting space to rest, Lorraine never hesitated to offer her home and her heart. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her ability to make others feel welcome and cared for was truly extraordinary.
Lorraine's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, especially her children, grandchildren, siblings, and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and warmth that will be cherished forever. May her example inspire us to be more giving, more welcoming, and more understanding towards others, just as she was to all who crossed her threshold. Rest in peace, dear Lorraine, your spirit of hospitality and kindness will forever be remembered and cherished, you will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband Simon Anderson Jr., Mother Ethel Frances Locke, Father Cherry C. Cook, Grand Parents: Minnie Locke, Hugh Locke Sr., Mirdel Cook and Arthur Cook, Brothers: Bruce Averett, Dennis McGill, Willie James (Mark) Clark and Grandson Deldrake Antonio Ealy Jr.
Lorraine (Nonny) is survived by: Son Mark (Jill) Anderson Daughters Adrienne Anderson, Evelyn Anderson-Lewis (George) Stephanie Anderson and Honorary Daughter Kizzie (Brian) Ashley: Sisters Betty Averett (Sugar), Gail Locke, Beverly Talley, Brothers: Stacey (Kathy) Locke, Melvin (Enanu) Locke, Marvin (Juile) Locke, Phillip Locke, David Locke, Randy (Marlise) Locke Grandchildren: Aaron (Dyamon) Wright, Tai Anderson, Tierra (David) Anderson-Velazquez, Taron Alexander, Devin Ealy, Michela Anderson, Mya Anderson, Mark Amey, Tone’ Pinner, Mark and Matthew Anderson. Great-Grandchildren: Mariah, Amari, Aaron, Tamareon, Deyon, Damita, Ariya, Lucia, Dana, Devonte Jr., Re’Nya, Amir, Isabella, Osani, Addison, Aliya, Dominic, Ashton and Stephon. A visitation for Lorraine will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
