

in Indianapolis, IN on February 16th, 1938 to Louis and Lillian Messang (Colby). Louis
graduated from Shortridge High School with the Class of 1956 and attended Butler University.
He married the love of his life, Margo Ann Williams, on August 30, 1958 and they were happily
married for 54 years until her passing in 2013. He worked as a Parts Manager in the
automotive industry for much of his life, retiring in the early 2000’s.
Louis was a devoted husband and Father. He took great pride in being a provider for his family.
He was also an avid sports fan, especially of the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers. He
also loved Notre Dame football and watching and coaching Soccer. He started and coached
the first boys soccer team at Bishop Chatard High School in the mid 1970s. He was a member
of LivRite Fitness where he enjoyed water aerobics five days a week and he and his wife
belonged to a Euchre Club with friends for 50+ years. He loved the ocean and bird watching.
As a Parts Manager, he was awarded many trips throughout the years. One of his most
treasured was a trip to the Vatican in Rome, Italy where he, his wife, mother and sister all were
blessed to see Pope John Paul II. In his later years, you could often find him swinging on the
front porch with a Coke in one hand, waving with the other to any and all who passed by.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Louis S. Messang, Sr and Lillian N. Messang
(Colby); wife, Margo Ann Messang (Williams); and sister, Lois Simpson.
He is survived by his
children, Matthew Messang, Laurie (Ron) Spears and Amy Messang; 9 Grandchildren
(Christopher, Nicholas, Joshua, Jennifer, Mackenzie, Alayna, Whitney, Dustin and Dylan) and 9
Great-Grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
