The first child of Paul and Joyce Irvin and the first grandchild of Jimmy and Anna Garrett. She was gifted with the name “Lynn Ann Irvin,” which was a tribute to her grandmother Anna, her mother’s mother.
By the time Lynn was one and a half years old, she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a condition caused by damage to the developing brain—usually from a lack of oxygen.
Her primary education began at James E. Roberts Elementary School, an educational institute specializing in special needs children. She then attended secondary school in the public school system at Howe High School. After graduation, Lynn continued her education with computer classes at J Everett Light Career Center.
She began her professional career in an employee training program at Crossroads Easter Seal, which placed her at Admiral Awards, a trophy-making company, where she worked for five years. Then, she returned to Crossroads Industrial Services as an employee and worked there for ten years. She had an unmatched work ethic and was computer savvy her entire life.
Lynn loved sports. She was a loyal Pacers fan (as long as they were winning), the Dallas Cowboys, the LA Lakers, the Atlanta Braves, Indiana University Football and Basketball, Butler University Basketball, Notré Dame Football, and even Formula One Racing.
A warrior in life, Lynn was an incredibly charming individual who won the hearts of nearly everyone with whom she interacted. Her laughter and smile were infectious and brought joy to all, especially the family she cherished.
Lynn was preceded in death by her father and is survived by her mother, Joyce; her two younger brothers, Paul, Jr. (Matt Amari) and James Robert (Troy Dunham); her Aunt, Saundra “Butch;” her maternal cousins: Kevin and Kim, Kiah, Cassidy, Arturo and Aisha; her paternal cousins: Kathy, Laurie, Marcus and Jeffrey and a host of relatives (too long to list).
