Marcia was born in Newark, Ohio on August 15th, 1943 to Carl and Lucille Sasser.
From a young age Marcia had a passion for helping people. After graduating from high school, she enrolled in Riverside Nursing School where she graduated as a registered nurse. She went on to complete her undergraduate degree from the University of Indianapolis, followed by a master’s degree from Butler University in Marriage and Family Therapy. She always had a strong passion to care for others which lead her to generously volunteer her time to the newly formed hospice program at Methodist Hospital. She finished her education at North Central University by successfully completing her Ph.D. to become Dr. Marcia D. Gray. She was a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) as well as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).
Marcia married her soulmate, William (Bill) Gray, on June 24, 1989. They were inseparable - traveling the world together. Their love for one another was one of a kind and timeless. She was a loving mother to two sons, Curt and Trevor (Laura) Gibson. She was strong in her faith and was active at her church - Christ Church Cathedral for over 20 years.
Marcia lived a fulfilling life as the world’s best Grandma and Great Grandma. She had 12 grandchildren: Andrea Gibson-Riggins (Ryan), Emily Gibson, Nick Gray, Paige Ochs (David), Nathan Gray, Katie Woods (Alex), Olivia Gibson, Aiden Dorsey, Lucky Gibson, Audrey Dorsey, Chance Gibson, Anna Dorsey and two great grandchildren, Lincoln Garhart and Violet Riggins.
Marcia is survived by her sister, Peg Hollingshead and her sister-in-law Connie Sasser, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Marcia is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Lucille Sasser, her brothers John Sasser, Paul Resta, and Phillip Resta.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 12:00PM to 2:00PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery located at 700 W. 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208. The funeral service will follow visitation. Marcia will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Methodist Hospice Program in Marcia’s name.
