

90, of Indianapolis, departed this life Thursday, December 18, 2014. He was born March 15, 1924 in Indianapolis to the late Domenic and Margherita Santarossa. Mario proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II then he graduated from University of Notre Dame, South Bend, with a degree in architecture.
Mario began working for his father at Santarossa Mosaic and Tile at the age of 13. He began serving as the Company’s president in 1970, retiring in 1996. Today, his sons continue the 90 year old family business started by Mario’s father in 1924.
Mario was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, the Notre Dame Society of Indianapolis for over 50 years, the Edwin Frederick Sorin Society, American Legion Post 4008, and St. Pius X Council of the Knights of Columbus where he was a Fourth Degree.
Mario is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Elsie Santarossa; children, Pamela (George) Krull, Teresa (Michael) Kovey, David (Mary) Santarossa, John (Karen) Santarossa, Marie (David) Walden and Rob (Michelle) Santarossa; sister, Erna DeCecco; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mario was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Gina Russell.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 20, from 10:00 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm all at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Interment follows at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to St Matthew Catholic Church, Riley Hospital for Children or the Wounded Warrior Project.
