

He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1975 and continued his education at Ball State University where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in 1979.
Mark was an avid sport enthusiast. He used sports as a tool to invest in the lives of thousands of young people. As a coach and referee he mentored and encouraged them to be better for themselves, family and society. Many of them acknowledge that "Coach Rush" impacted their lives and made a big difference.
After 28 years of service Officer Rush retired from the Indianapolis Police Department in 2011. While serving, he encouraged and influenced many people in the community to change and improved their lives as well. He was a respected officer and received several accommodations for his dedication and service.
Mark married Barbara J. Roach in 1987. They enjoyed entertaining, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mark Kevin Rush passed on November 29, 2014 after a short illness.
Along with his wife, he will be missed by his children; son, Devin; daughters Shantel and Tasha; grandchildren Keith, Miyah, Elijah, Marlan, MaLan, and Joseph; brothers Ron, Scott, Carl, Marlon, Rico and Aaron Rush; Sisters Carla and Mary Rush; A host of other family members and friends.
Services for Mark Kevin Rush will be held at his home church, Greater Northwest Baptist Church, 3402 W. 62nd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46268. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. There will also be another viewing at the same address on Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 10 a.m. - 12 noon with services immediately following at 12 noon. Contributions can be made to “The Mark Rush Inner City Foundation” at any PNC Bank Branch.
