Mary Lynne Thurman was born April 15, 1962, to Augustus “Duke”, Jr and Audra Thurman, the youngest of 5 children. Her magnetically, chattery personality and eye-catching smile have lit up many rooms and opened up many hearts.
Graduating from North Central High School in 1980, Mary Lynne went on to further her education by obtaining an Associate’s degree in Applied Science and additional IT Credentials.
Mary Lynne asked God to come into her heart at a tender age of 13. She instantly began walking in her gift of evangelism, bringing the good news of Christ to all she encountered. She had been an active member of Greater Northwest Church since 1989, where she continued to grow in her faith and nurture her relationships with her church family.
Mary Lynne worked for the Indiana National Guard - Stoutfield for more than a decade. Prior to that, she worked for the Simon Group. She truly loved her coworkers and prayed for them often.
Mary Lynne LOVED hanging with her friends, checking up on family, and praying to her King! She was known for assigning everyone a “special” name and delivering her iconic statements, “It won’t be long now”, “I didn’t make this up, it’s in the Book”, and “I seem to have gotten myself into a fine mess”. Her famous “whatcha doin” will be sorely missed.
Mary Lynne became alive February 21, 2024. Welcoming her with open arms are her parents, Augustus “Duke”, Jr and Audra, siblings Donald Thurman, Sharon Thompkins, Stephanie Thurman, and Rodney Thurman. She leaves to celebrate her life, her aunts, Betty Thurman, Elizabeth Bell, Frances Thurman, and Ramona Plant. Her sisters in Christ, Janet (Brian) Davidson and Gloria (LeRoy) Collins, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
A graveside service for Mary will be held Friday, April 5, 2024, at 12:30 PM at Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208.
